  • FREE SPEECH

    Melinda Capozza | Huntington, IN | March 26, 2016

Today's strip on free speech is wonderful. Go get 'em, GBT. To which of the presidential candidates might it apply?

  • NORTH KOREA

    Edward Cherlin | Columbus, IN | March 25, 2016

Speaking of bad apples, I hear that there are a couple in North Korea these days as well. And they are so proud of their apples. When my Peace Corps group arrived in South Korea in 1967, the press in the North denounced us all as CIA agents. In 1968 the NK government sent a team to assassinate South Korean President Park Chung Hee, but only succeeded in killing a few people on a bus, including a school janitor, a friend of a friend of mine.

  • CAN'T HAVE THAT

Bill Resner | St. Paul, MN | March 24, 2016

I hope there will be more Trump strips. His candidacy is proof that we cannot have public campaign financing. Imagine all of the people who would run for office and just say whatever they wanted. The political parties and the media would lose total control of public discourse. We can't have that.

  • WOUNDED WARRIOR PROJECT

    Ellen Stein | Trinity, TX | March 23, 2016

I just want to say thank you for the March 6th Doonesbury strip. I had read an article in the newspaper about the Wounded Warrior Project, but had seen no response to it. I was hoping someone would jump on it. Thanks, Garry. You hit the nail on the head, and I'm so glad you told it like it is. I hope it makes people more aware.

  • FLASHBACK STRIP

    Jan | Vancouver, CANADA | March 21, 2016

Today's 45-Years-Ago Flashback strip could be published right now and it would describe the Trump/Sanders phenomenon perfectly.

  • HELLO, DONALD!

Dave in Philly | Abington, PA | March 20, 2016

Whoa. I turned to Doonesbury this morning for my usual Sunday dose of brilliant Trump-skewering. Slightly disappointed that it was merely a clever conversation between Zip and Zonk. Then the last panel. Then a re-read. Hello, Donald!

  • GREAT JOB

    Joe Strejnowski | Cleveland, OH | March 20, 2016

Most of the presidential candidates took a hit today. Hillary, with the "lose them" reference, while Trump, Cruz, and Kasich took a beating with the rest of the strip. Kasich is the one looking to be more normalized by standing next to the more extreme versions of himself. I say this as an Ohioan who is more familiar with what Kasich is about. Great job, Mr. Trudeau.

  • ROLE MODEL

Steve Singer | Iowa City, IA | March 20, 2016

Re: Today's musings on Zonker's alleged cluelessness. A lot of us would argue for Zonker's commitment to the moment, his gentleness, his acceptance of others, his willingness to balance play (Walden puddle, competitive tanning) with work (a variety of unheralded service positions, and most notably as a superb nanny) as an ideal example of how to live a joyful, giving, ethical life. Zipper could look a long time before finding a better role model.

  • TODAY'S COMIC

    Tim S. | Vancouver, CANADA | March 20, 2016

Nice reference to Donald Trump and Ted Cruz in today's comic.

  • PARALLELS

    Cyrus B. | San Diego, CA | March 20, 2016

Today's strip is brilliant! When readers look back at it in the Flashback section 10 years from now, I'm sure they'll recall the 2016 election and the parallels to Donald Trump and Ted Cruz.

  • META

    Laurette | Paris, FRANCE | March 20, 2016

Yes! I had noticed that Zonker seemed all mature and avuncular when he was with Zipper! How nice to see my perception confirmed. And how meta to see this applied to Zonker's own Uncle Duke with respect to Former-President-for-Life Trff Bmzklfrpz.

  • EXPEDIENCY

    Tony Phillips | Chicago, IL | March 18, 2016

The expediency of GBT's breathless artist 30 years ago holds true to this day, almost of necessity in New York. The difference is that everybody in a hip new club would look more like they were all artists, the critics as well, and the critics would be less interested in maturity than in the moment.

  • CANADIAN CONTENT

    John Brennand | Langley, CANADA | March 15, 2016

Yes! Sunday's video, featuring The Wailin' Jennys, provides some much appreciated Canadian content. Or as it is known up here, CanCon.

  • DEMISE OF ART

    T.J. Martin | Denver, CO | March 12, 2016

This week's Doonesbury Classic series on the demise of art, supplanted by the commerce of art, is even more relevant today than it was when first published. Where are the Robert Hugheses of the world when we so desperately need them?

  • SUNDAY'S STRIP

    Perry | Boston, MA | March 11, 2016

Sunday's strip, once again, was perfectly timed. Cause and effect, or happenstance? Thank you anyhow for exposing the scam.

  • WWP

    Bill Vose | Orlando, FL | March 10, 2016

I usually do not agree with many of your musings, but as a Wounded Warrior from the Vietnam War I thoroughly enjoyed your expose strip that ran on Sunday in the Orlando Sentinel and referenced the Wounded Warrior Project. I was donating to them after the intense well-done ads they were running, but when I saw disparaging info on a vet website i inquired of their nearby HQ and was met by a wall of silence. I am involved on the Boards of a few other Vet charities, and no one gets any compensation other than expenses. It is common knowledge in the Vet community that WWP is an overall bust. Thanks for outing them.

  • FITS PERFECTLY

    Susan Bein | Portland, OR | March 09, 2016

Just substitute Trump's name for Buchanan's in today's "20 years ago" Flashback strip, and it fits perfectly. Only trouble is, twenty years on, it looks like that "reich" is much more likely to become a reality. And how ironic is it that Muslims are the new Jews, feared, hated and blamed for conspiracies. Mexicans are the new Roma, who were also on Hitler's hit list. Feels like end times, but sadly, it's just business as usual for the lowest common denominators in the human race.

  • PROSTHETIC LEG

Big Guy | New York, NY | March 08, 2016

The second panel of Sunday's strip shows B.D. crossing his prosthetic leg over his other leg -- not an easy thing to draw. Thank you Mr. Trudeau for working to improve your skills to make your excellent comic strip even better.

  • TAKEDOWN

Dave Collins | Johnson City, TX | March 07, 2016

I'd like to add the voice of this Marine veteran of the American War in Viet Nam to the others praising Garry's takedown of the despicable exploitation of vets by the WWP. Semper fi, Mr. Trudeau!

  • CHARITIES

Don Albertson | Spring Mills, PA | March 07, 2016

Thank you for Sunday's riff on the Wounded Warrior Project, and by extension most of the charities I've never heard of that telephone to solicit donations. I much prefer to donate directly to local organizations where I know the people.
