CRITIQUING AMERICAN NEWS AND CULTURE
Today's Doonesbury and last Sunday's were absolutely hilarious! it is such a pleasure to see Mr. Trudeau return to critiquing American news and culture! (The "...a classified document." strip was political, but it has become a bipartisan issue.) Keep up the good work...

TAKEDOWN
Speaking as a daily news watcher, today's takedown of the TV news is brilliant and spot-on! Thank you...keep up the good work!
-
THE KID
Earl sure has changed from the kid who went to see the Barbara Ann Boopstein festival.

SUNDAY'S STRIP
Haha, you got me! Right until the last panel I was scratching my head thinking "since when is someone else the hero of a Red Rascal story?" Jeff and Santos deserve each other.

LONG, STRANGE TRIP
What a long, strange trip it's been...

ET TU?
"Shivved" -- had to look it up... Et tu everyone?

FIVE YEARS
Just five years from Leo in the flying ICU (15 years ago today) to Alex with an army of two (10 years ago today). Wow. Good job, Alex and Leo! And thanks for making me feel old again, GBT.

ALEX TALKING TO KIM
And that's why she eventually found her own Leo? (Alex talking to Kim.)
-
SURVIVOR
"I found your father, didn't I?" Best laugh I have had all year! As a survivor of two daughters, thanks, GBT.

THIS ONE
And there it is -- January 2, 2008, fifteen years ago. Chris Rock needs to see this one.

WHAT'S HIS SECRET?
Oh wow! Austin of MyFACTS has been dispensing jewels of wisdom for twenty years! My, he certainly has aged well. What's his secret? Will he share?
-
ENBY PRONOUNS
I'm 52 and enby (non-binary), with they/them pronouns. Thank you for considering me young!
-
TRANS
For the whole first half of today's comic, I thought it was going to be entirely about trans (and trans-friendly and nonbinary) kids, rather than only in the punch line! I guess I spend too much time around young people.

RED RASCAL
I absolutely love the transition of the Red Rascal to Ukraine; that is genius! And I love the dragon. But he will need a new name, in Ukrainian. :-) -
CHRISTMAS
On the fourth day of Christmas, Trudeau gave to me; four cans of tuna, three Tickle Me Elmos, two sets of parents... and Christmas in October? Man, I feel like I just walked into a Costco store. In August. Eek!

SPECIAL
What a wonderful October 23 episode to make Sunday special once again. Thank you!

SUPPORT OF THE VETERANS
Sunday's strip was a breath of fresh air. Thank you for your support of the veterans. Glad to see B.D. is still working on healing from PTSD. I've always suspected there was more to his trauma in Iraq than we've been told.

WHERE'S THE BLOOD?
Ah, but where's the blood on those tiny little hands?

CLASSIC ANIMATED TREASURES
What a wonderful suggestion for kids and parents who now days see nothing but computer-animated cartoons. Like Windy Day there are so many classic animated treasures full of beauty and wonder. The award-winning creations by Frédéric Back are some to explore, like The Man Who Planted Trees, The Mighty River, Crac, Illusion, Tout Rien, and others.

THE HUBLEYS
Nice shout out to the Hubley's in today's strip. John was one of the great directors in the cartoon business. I still recall reading with sadness about his passing in 1977, lo those many years ago, when, as I recall, GBT was working with John and Faith on A Doonesbury Special. The half-hour film won a Special Jury Award at Cannes, aired on CBS, and won a Grammy. Sometimes it pops up on YouTube.
