THE ONLY PROBLEM
Sunday's strip was great; the only problem with it is that, well, you can't elect a Canadian for POTUS.
-
SAD
Ah, Lacey. Sad that the only elected official ever to take full responsibility for their actions is a cartoon character.
-
HOPE
I just want to thank you for sharing your humor, intelligence, empathy and concern for all Americans. When It seems things cannot be changed, that we are living in total chaos, your perspective lightens the mood and gives us hope.

HONEST PRESIDENTS
I'm sorry, we voted for honest presidents? Many times? Would you remind me? JFK, affairs; LBJ, Vietnam; Nixon, Watergate; Ford, no we didn't vote for him; Carter, Afghanistan; Reagan & Bush, Iran-Contra; Clinton, numerous women and the dotcom bubble; W, Iraq WMD; Obama, going after the torturers; Hillary, Bill's wom...oh, sorry, Trump got in, didn't he. Okay: Trump, everything. Or as Mark Slackmeyer once said, "That's guilty! Guilty, guilty, guilty!!"

SANITY
Your strip today moved me to tears. Thank you for the sanity you brought to so many of us appalled by the current White House occupant. I hope this imperiled country can make it to 2020.

AMEN
On today's strip: Amen. Great sermon, brother. Brilliant imagery, both visual and ethical. The leaders we bear in our American Democratic Republic are a reflection of the state of our Union. We the People are responsible for them, and it, whether we have been or not. We all bleed the same color. We all laugh and cry over the same circumstances. We all love and despise the same basic things, regardless of what details may differ. Most importantly, we each are members of the same human family. Dumb can be a poor decision, but stupid is its careless repetition: Dumb is readily forgivable, stupid begs rejection. May God bless those who love us, and those who hate us: May God forgive us all !

PERFECT
Today's Doonesbury strip was perfect! I sent it on to the president.
-
CANDIDACY
Thanks for Norm, for whom we will all vote. I hope there will be bumper stickers, buttons, and lawn signs. This could be a unifying candidacy.
-
IRRELEVANT
That someone does or does not "worship a loving god" is entirely irrelevant to their being a decent person. To imply, in today's strip, that it's required in a "normal" person or president is bigoted.
-
CHARACTERISTICS
In today's strip, I'm sure there are a thousand characteristics you could have listed, but here's one I hope for: "I'm an adult, and I act like it."
-
VALUES AND BEHAVIORS
Thank you for today. Current events in the US are so destructive and destabilizing that watching the evening news is painful. Your message is a good reminder that there are millions of US citizens who model the values and behaviors that we expect in our leaders.

NORM 2020
I don't think it's too early to crowdfund a "Norm 2020" campaign.
-
FAVORITE
Today's five-years-ago strip is my favorite in the entire canon.

MIT Ph.D.s
As a Ph.D. who tries to go by Mr., I enjoyed the 5-years-ago-today strip with a bunch of MIT Ph.D.s looking for "a real doctor."
-
IRONY
Excellent juxtaposition on the website today. In the "Say What?" column, there was Rudy Giuliani describing KJ-U on all fours, begging. In the strip itself, there was J.J. in modified bondage gear. Irony, thy name is Doonesbury!

PROGRESS?
I was looking forward to J.J. answering to door to B.D. -- if memory serves , that strip was pulled from a huge proportion of the journals back in the day. Progress?

DAILY BRIEFING ARTICLE
I read the Daily Briefing article "There Is No Deus Ex Machina Clause In The Constitution," and I suspect Laurence Tribe is right. We can't impeach Trump, even if we get more Democrats or Independents elected this fall. But what I'm hearing from the White House is a president who thinks he's immune from the laws that other U.S. citizens obey. I think Donald Trump is a megalomaniac, with powers he won't control, and that scares me.

DIRECT QUESTION
On Sunday, Roland asked Sarah Sanders a direct question and got a blow-off answer. Yesterday, several people asked the direct question about the discrepancy between her statements and the letter from Trump's lawyers, and asked how she could be trusted to be telling the truth -- and she gave a prepared, blow-off answer. GBT is timely, once again.

NOTEBOOK
I often make up a little headline for a strip – in today's case, “Roland asks a little protocol question.” As we can see in the last panel, Roland didn’t realise he’d hit the point; he was just neating up his notebook – which he has nicknamed his “Neatness is next to Godliness Book." I wonder what other wonders and questions could be lurking in that notebook.

VIDEOS
I've been following this page for a couple of years now, and all I can say is Thank God for it. I really enjoy a lot of the videos and marvel at how eclectic they are. Stay on line as long as possible! Net neutrality forever!
